Meet Lui

Lui joined the A1 Kiwi Cutters team in April 2014 and his favourite piece of equipment to date is his floor saw.  However, with a wealth of experience ranging from expansion cutting, demolition cutting, drilling, floor grinding, block wall grinding, block and paver laying……the list goes on, Lui is your Man.  In fact, the driving force behind becoming a concrete cutter was to become ‘The Man’!

The most memorable job to date that Lui has worked on was the Vero building job where he and the team were cutting an expansive opening to fit a stairwell.   Not only was this job memorable due to seeing his bosses Penny and Janine doing the dirty and mucky jobs of slurry control, it was the first time in Lui’s career that he had the privilege of working alongside an inspirational leader and owner of the company - the Late Mark Simons.  It is this strength of comradeship and unity of hard work and commitment that keeps Lui working hard, helping to build up more success within the business.  When asked what was one of the things he liked about working at A1 Kiwi cutters, he replied ‘They always listen to my opinion and concerns – they treat me like a family member’

On a personal level, Lui is a true family man. He has many hobbies and interests, which include going to church, travelling (when he gets a day off) cooking with the family, playing Volley ball and listening to music.

Meet Will

Will came to us back in 2014 with no experience in the concrete cutting or drilling industry.  He worked very closely for the first 6 months with one of our more senior operators and proved to be a fast and capable learner.  Since then his knowledge and enthusiasm to learn has continued to grow and Will is now one of our ‘all rounder’s ‘with experience in splitting, hand sawing, wall sawing as well as specializing in drilling.

Working with such an array of tools and equipment is one of the main reasons he enjoys his job at Kiwi cutters, even though the jobs aren’t always pretty.  One of his most memorable experiences was when Will was assisting on a job which involved bar sawing an asbestos waste pipe – we can leave that up to your imagination but suffice to say, Will didn’t eat for nearly two days!

On a personal level Will competes as a road racer on his bike and has won many racing series and cups to date.

Meet Allister

Allister Blewett started his Career with A1 Kiwi Cutters in December 2015.  Although Allister is one of our newest recruits to our company, he has quickly adapted to all tasks at hand and this is due to his competent and dedicated attitude, and a passion for physical labour in the Construction environment.  Allister enjoys working for A1 Kiwi cutters due to the ‘family’ feel of the company and the ongoing support he gets from his peers.  His favourite piece of equipment to work with is currently the Hydraulic saw and nothing gets better than standing back at an end of a job and seeing a great final result to be proud of.

Allister’s favourite job so far with us was the Water View Portal beam removal, where he learnt a wealth of knowledge in an intense 4-week period……. not to mention the importance of wearing sunscreen!  Allister’s main future goal is to further expand on his knowledge of Concrete Cutting and Drilling with us at A1 Kiwi Cutters and his sights are set on gaining his BCITO qualification.

On a personal level, Allister loves spending time out on walks with his Border Collie. He also has a keen interest in computers and all things technology as well as a love for a good horror movie!

Meet Jordan

Being a person that loves combining physical activity with being outdoors as much as possible, and having a positive and natural aptitude to learning new skills, Jordan took the opportunity to join Kiwi Cutters as a trainee back in November 2014 and rises to all challenges presented.

Having gained much experience through hard work, commitment and enthusiasm, Jordan has just completed his BCITO course which now sees him as a much competent, qualified member of our A1 Kiwi Team.  No two days are the same here, and it’s this variation that Jordan thrives on.  In his spare time, Jordan loves to work on his car and is a keen drifter.

Welcome to the family!

Proving that ‘Hoovers’ aren’t just for girls, we would like to introduce our latest addition to the A1 Kiwi Team, ‘Hoover the Hino’- The Slurry Sucker Truck.  Capable of sucking up to 1800 litres of waste, it is already proving itself to be a fast and efficient tool for slurry collection and removal.  Our truck and driver are also available to hire out for your slurry collection needs. For more info and rates, please contact us.

Meet Afraz

Afraz has been with our team at A1 Kiwi cutters since November 2011.  Working in the concrete cutting industry is physically challenging and no two jobs are the same. Afraz enjoys rising to the different daily challenges that this job presents and this is one of the reasons he decided to become a concrete cutter...
